Batambora is a project led by young entrepreneurs from the Afro-descendant community of La Boquilla, in the city of Cartagena de Indias.
We are committed to human and economic development, rescuing and preserving the cultural traditions of the African heritage through innovation.
About La Boquilla
La Boquilla is a fishing village with Afro-Caribbean roots located at the northernmost point of Cartagena de Indias, which for more than 200 years has continued in a heroic struggle of cultural resistance to preserve its ancestral traditions, in which drums play a leading role.

Yoel Yesith Londoño Moncaris
MUSICIAN – DIRECTOR AND LEGAL REPRESENTATIVE OF THE BATAMBORA CORPORATION
Leader, musician and cultural manager of great importance for his territory, he was born in a district of Cartagena called La Boquilla in 1985, with his more than 25 years of musical career he has managed to tour several countries representing his ancestral roots, in 2021 he is the winner of his first Latin grammy alongside the PETRONA MARTINEZ group with the album ANCESTRAS in the category of best folk album.
With the teacher Isvant he learns to fuse amalgamated rhythms of the great Caribbean and develops a prototype of an instrument called Batambora.
During his musical career, he has accompanied on stage and in recordings great exponents of traditional music, including Etelvina Maldonado, Petrona Martínez (he was a percussionist with this group for 4 years), Toto la Momposina, Ceferina Banquez, Martina Camargo, Pabla Flores. , Cecilia Silva Caraballo among others.
He is currently the director and co-founder of the Batambora Corporation, a trainer for more than a decade at the Cabildo Tambores School where he is considered the representative and exponent of ancestral culture and Afro-descendant music in particular. He is an entrepreneur with focus and a sense of belonging, with contributions and knowledge at the service of other people, he has a great capacity for percussion instruments and the transmission of knowledge.

He is currently a trainer at the Cabildo drums school where he has led a process with children and adolescents for more than 12 years.
